Scrapbooking Social with Carol Smith:

Do you have zip lock baggies full of horse photos and no good way to display them?

Would you like to learn what the scrapbooking craze is all about?

Get out of the sun and join creative guru Carol Smith at the Michael's 9649 W. Colonial Drive, Ocoee, Fl 34761, Phone 407-822-8086 on Saturday July 31st from noon until 3pm (or whenever).

We reserved their large, air-conditioned, craft room.

Carol will demonstrate samples of 'how to' and provide ideas to help attendees who do not know how to scrapbook or have never done it before and step you through the process of creating a scrapbook photo album.

Entry fee: $0 to attend. Such a bargain!

Bring: A pair of scissors, your photos, flat buttons or other decorations you want to use, and any other supplies you might already have. If you haven't scrapbooked before, you can purchase supplies right there at Michaels . Hint check your prior Sunday paper for Michael's coupons for discounts on some items and supplies.

Scribe and Scorer Training

Back by Popular Demand

Our last scribe training was so successful we decided to do it again.

Come join us for an educational evening and learn about the very important job of scribing at a dressage show. Find out how to dress, what to bring, and the etiquette expected of a successful scribe. Learn the "scribing shorthand" that makes keeping up with the judge easier! Prepare and hone your skills for a Dressage show job that gives you a fascinating "behind-the-scenes" look at the horse and rider through the judge's eyes. Scoring dressage tests will also be covered in this clinic.

Classroom Training: 6:30pm sharp :
Practical Scribing Practice: 7:45pm - 8:30pm
Scorer Training and Practice: 8:30-9:00pm

Location: Laura Causey's Farm, 29901 SE 150th St, Altoona FL

Cost: $10.00 members, $20 nonmembers.

Everyone who successfully completes this clinic including classroom training, open book written exam, and scribe practice session that evening will receive a 'Certificate of Achievement' for successful completion of scribe training. Use your Scribe certificate to volunteer as a scribe at schooling shows. After you have scribe experience under your belt, Recognized Dressage Shows and some schooling shows pay their scribes. You can actually make money with Dressage instead of spending it. Bonus!

CFD Hawaiian Shirt Dressage Schooling Show and Fun Day

Leave your show jacket and show shirt at home. Wear and show your dressage tests in an Hawaiian Shirt.

For our fun day CFD will run a regular schooling dressage show as well as fun classes such as:
- A Dressage Obstacle Course
- Hula Hoop Contests
- Scavenger Hunts
- Horse Shoe Toss

Also included in this fun Show:

Hawaiian Costume Class: Best horse and runner-up horse and rider team in a Hawaiian, luau, beach, ocean, summer, or nautical theme will receive a cool prize.

It's official! Mark your calendars!

Pull out the hoof polish, dust off your glitter saddle pads, get your costumes together and your musical dressage freestyle riding routines ready.

It's time for:

2010 CFD 3rd Annual Fabulous Freestyle Fundraiser

When: Sunday November 7th, 2010

Where: Silver Sands Arena, New Smyrna Beach.

Time: TBA

This year's event will be bigger and better than ever with more riders and more door prizes.

If you are not familiar with the event, riders perform a dressage musical freestyle at the level of their choice. Costumes are not required but are encouraged.

Rides are not judged. All rides are for performance and for fun.

Riders may perform a USDF competition freestyle, or they may mix and choose what movements they want to perform from any level(s) in an exhibition format.

There is a time limit for each ride. Additional information, rules, stabling costs/fees will be posted on our Website soon.

Tickets for spectators are sold for $10 each. Tickets can be pre-purchased prior to the event or bought day of the event at the gate.

We hope all of our CFD members can participate in this event in some way. Please invite your friends and family to attend. As with last year, the bigger the crowd, the more the rider's enjoyed putting on their performances.

This year the event will be in a covered arena with plenty of spectator seating.
