It Was A Magical Evening.
- by Susan Croft
"Cavalia is a live stage production where equestrian arts are infused with magic, music and emotion in a multimedia extravaganza. Cavalia blends dramatic visual effects, live music, dance and acrobatics with the bold presence of over sixty horses."
The CFD entourage totaled 22 and traveled to Miami in great anticipation to witness the magnificent Cavalia show. We boarded our chartered motor coach complete with all necessary creature comforts for a very long evening; plenty of food, drinks and entertainment. Truly, there was enough food that could have lasted in any emergency situation. Our motor coach was not lacking in amenities either. It included 12 sleeping berths (each with satellite TV), refrigerator, bathroom, microwave, a back lounge area with satellite TV and music, and a front lounge with table, satellite TV and music.
Oh, did I mention WiFi?
Traveling by motor coach not only gave the group comfortable transportation but it provided an opportunity for the group to make new friends with our cross section of attendees.
The RDV tickets were first class all the way. We were able to enter the Big Top 1 1/2 hours prior to the show and were given a Cavalia calendar and ID tag. From there we were able to shop in our private boutique. Our motor coach was parked a very short distance from the entrance which was really convenient when it was time to store our spoils from shopping. The Hors-D'oeuvres were plentiful and tasty. The champagne and wine flowed endlessly. Of course, the Big Top is not complete without popcorn. A really huge bonus was not having to wait in line for the bathroom.
Then it was time for the show.
We had the best seats in the house! The lights dimmed and the music began. We were amazed, mesmerized, and entertained. We laughed, we cried. Parts of the show were absolutely breathtaking. Traci Hegstrom caught the scarf signed by the Cavalia riders. We even had an acrobat directly overhead. I would say the finale was sensory overload.
During intermission we were ushered back to the RDV lounge and presented with an enormously beautiful display of delectable desserts while the riders signed autographs.
The evening ended with a tour of the 60 horse stable. The horses used in the performance are a cross section of Lusitano, Pure Spanish Breed, Arabian, Quarter Horse, Paint, Appaloosa, Canadian, Belgian, Comtois and Oldenburg.
It was a long evening and yet, it was over too soon. On the bus trip home we dozed and dreamed of magical music set to dancing horses, incredible costumes, and an night we will never forget.
