Cool
Ways to Stay Fit this Summer for Equestrians
- by Carol Bulmer
Great instructors and fast paced fun marked a great afternoon in our 'Cool
Ways to Keep Fit this Summer' seminar for the everyday equestrian. While storm
clouds gathered outside, eager riders gathered inside Ignite Fitness, Clermont
Florida to learn fun and effective ways to enhance their riding skills using
unmounted exercises.
Tracey Trambauer of Still Lake Yoga in Clermont began the afternoon with 45
minutes of guided yoga postures and breathing exercises that would enhance
rider balance and performance. "I could really feel how the yoga postures
and breathing could help improve my riding!" explained Sally Maxwell
a participant.
After a short water break Danielle Contarino continued the theme with a Powerpoint
presentation that demonstrated proper exercise and training techniques using
stability balls and stretchy bands. "We got a chance to try a lot of
new exercises that I could do at home without going to a gym." explained
Jan Maxwell "It was great fun!"
The afternoon was topped off with some great door prizes donated by our title
sponsor, Ignite Fitness as well as our other valued sponsors, Clermont Equestrian
Tack and Feed, Dr. Heather Farmer DVM and Central Florida Hay Exchange.
Sally Maxwell, Susan Croft, and Laura Causey won the drawings for the door
prizes for the day. Each participant received a folder created by Danielle
Contarino which contained a summary of her presentation and exercises as well
as other handy fitness information including a coupon for two weeks at Ignite
Fitness as well as a free exam and x-rays at Clermont Chiropractic Life Center.
Carol Bulmer of Woodfield Farms, Inc. distributed a bag of homemade granola
crunch which was very delicious and much appreciated. Clermont Equestrian
Tack and Feed gave all participants a goodie bag full of handy items for the
barn or home. Many thanks to all our sponsors for this event. And a
very special thank you goes out to Carol Bulmer and Woodfield Farms, Inc for
organizing this clinic, trainers, and sponsors of this event. We appreciate
all your work and salute your efforts for providing CFD with this educational
afternoon.
