Presents our 2010 Fabulous Freestyle Fundraiser

November 7, 2010 CFD hosted a day of over the top entertainment and dressage education for the community at our 2010 Fabulous Freestyle Fundraiser at the Silver Sands Arena in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
The
program
consists of local amateur and professional dressage riders performing costumed
dressage Musical Freestyles. Spectators paid admission and a portion of the
funds went towards our benefit organization Freedom
Ride of Central Florida.
This year, we were proud to announce after expenses we were able to raise
$800 for Freedom ride. Below is a photo of CFD board presenting a check to
Freedom Ride of Central Florida.

We had an amazing response from the dressage community this year - 28 acts
with 38 horse and rider pairs performing Dressage Musical Freestyles, Deuxs,
and Quadrilles from Training level to Grand Prix. We were also thrilled to
have four Freedom Ride riders participate with musical routines at this event.
Everyone did a great job, the costumes and musical selections were all creative
and enjoyable to watch and to listen to.
It was truly hard to tell who was having more fun, the spectators or the riders. There were ear to ear smiles all around, energy was high, and the audience showed their approval with applause both during the rides as well as after each performance.
An
addition to this year's program was an educational demonstration called 'Dressage
through the Levels' was done by three horse and rider combinations: Charity
Messer & Buttercup, Philipa Gossett & Ianos, and Shawn Filley- Fennessey
& Dolly
showing all the movements and requirements for each dressage level from Intro
Level through Grand Prix. Spectators new to Dressage got a glimpse into what
each of the movements were called and what they looked like. Shawn and Dolly
put in a flawless performance at the Grand Prix level and wowed the crowd
with their tempi changes and extended trot work.
This annual event is much anticipated and a highlight of the CFD year. It's
a very special day, and we think unique in the horse world for a large group
of horse people to gather not in competition or to do a clinic, but just for
the fun of performing, the love of music and of the horse.
We want to thank all of our volunteers who worked so hard to make the
day such a success. They are too numerous to mention here, but we know who
you are and we are so very grateful for your time. The day went smoothly due
to all our volunteer's efforts.
We had a large spectator crowd this year and are very thankful for your attendance
and support of this event.
